	An ongoing journey from non-profit skateboard organisation to globally respected skateboarding brand.

Since 2013, SkatePal has supported young people in Palestine through skateboarding. But as our skate programmes increasingly transition over to locals partners, I joined the team to help SkatePal move into a new phase: to build a skateboard brand capable of supporting the scene for years to come. Here’s a snapshot of some favourite items I’ve designed:

(1–7)
 10 Years of Asira
A clothing capsule celebrating 10 years of our largest and longest-running skatepark, located in Asira Ash-Shamaliya. Graphics inspired by various pieces of graffiti that have appeared on the ramps over the decade from both local skaters and international volunteers.&#38;nbsp;

(8–11)
Licence Plate collection&#38;nbsp;A graphic that gets to the heart of the occupation, highlighting the apartheid road system that exists in the West Bank: yellow plates for Israeli vehicles, green plates for Palestinian vehicles. Yellow plates drive freely, green plates endure severe restrictions, roadblocks and checkpoints.

 
(12-14)
Rajab tee 
Released during the height of Israel’s military bombardment of Gaza, the tee features words and images of Rajab Al-Reefi, founder of Gaza Skate Team, doing a kickflip on a piece of rubble in the aftermath of air strikes. By the time a ceasefire was reached the tee had raised over £25,000 for Rajab and his family.

A huge part of building the SkatePal brand is curating a network of people around the world who connect with the organisation’s purpose and want to contribute to its voice. From arabic phrasebooks, to homemade shatta, to tatreez embroidery workshops, here are a selection of collaborations I’ve guided from idea to launch:

(1–3)
SkatePal x Fichier Caché
Fichier Caché are a Tunisian lifestyle brand whose vision is underpinned by the ethos ‘Born in struggle, thriving in chaos’. This collab capsule was inspired by our shared love of fruit stickers. Naturally, the deck took the shape of a fruit synonymous with Palestinian resistance.
&#38;nbsp;(4–7)

 SkatePal x Sabri SundosSabri Sundos is an Palestinian-American artist whose work often incorporates a traditional form of Palestinian embroidery: ‘tatreez’. Together we designed a clothing collection based on his dancing figures – evoking the freedom of movement found in skateboarding – Sabri then hosted embroidery workshops in NYC, in which people could hand-embroider their own SkatePal tee.


(8–13)
Haraka BarakaAn Arabic phrasebook developed by SkatePal and designed in collaboration with designer Samar Maakaroun. Offering a fun introduction to the Arabic language through a curated list of words and phrases from Palestine’s skateboarding community. We also designed a series typographic posters to launch alongside a limited-edition run of the book.

SkatePal x Fil &#38;nbsp; In partnership with Fil, producers of artisanal  ‘shatta’ (a Palestinian relish), we added a new product to their range, centred around the flavours found in Nablus: the ancestral home of Fil’s founders and location of SkatePal’s longest-running skatepark.

	A story from the heart of the Saharan desert bringing together two of my favourite things: sport and tea.

On the eastern border of Mauritania is a settlement called M’bera. Home to over 100,000 refugees displaced by the civil war in Mali, and the location of KLABU’s latest sports clubhouse.
The badge on the KLABU M’bera shirt&#38;nbsp;(5)
 features three traditional teapots, representing a welcome gesture in the Sahel where tea is poured in three servings:
 “The first tea is served bitter, like loss.
The second is served strong, like life.The third is served sweet, like love.”


This phrase – a Tuareg proverb – served as a perfect metaphor describing the personal journey from displacement to reconnection, told here through the story of three characters living in M’bera: a runner, a footballer, and a volleyball player.The film is scored by&#38;nbsp;Tinariwen, an incredible band from the region, and this project marks the first of a 3-year partnership with On. To celebrate the Netherlands women’s football team and taunt rivals in the run up to Euro 2025, we revised one of the most iconic national symbols: introducing Oranje Fatalis – a tulip with thorns, for a team that knows how to hurt.


Created in collaboration with Dutch silk flower specialists Bloom &#38;amp; Wolf, Oranje Fatalis is a new strain of tulip representing the character and fear factor of the ‘OranjeLeeuwinnen’ as they set their sights on European glory.
These thorned tulips took over flower stalls across Amsterdam before the opening fixture of the tournament, while prickly bouquets were sent to&#38;nbsp; the opposing team’s changing room before kick-off.


**this is the only piece of work in my
 portfolio where I did not develop the initial concept, however I led the project through production, shooting across three different countries, and across final design**

		A campaign that makes upgrading to WeTransfer Pro a no-brainer for even the least professional pro’s.

WeTransfer had a problem: 80-million users, yet less than 1% paid for a WeTransfer Pro account.So how do you talk to designers / photographers / filmmakers / editors / retouchers / sound engineers / location scouts / casting reps / production managers and all other fish swimming in this soup we call ‘the creative industry’?Everyone’s a&#38;nbsp;professional in their own way, so we locked onto that word – pro – and designed a bazillion iterations, one for every creative profession (not quite 80-million, but a lot), then bounced this prefix around
 the English language like a beach ball, constructing playful messages for all kinds of people about all manner of things.
We then asked some proper pros... the likes of Gabriel Moses, Joshua Kissi, Jessica Walsh and&#38;nbsp;Quinn Wilson ...to show us what being a true professional looks like – sharing glimpses of their creative process lurking on their mobile – which we then turned into a series of idents.

The campaign played out across WeTransfer, WePresent and Instagram.

WeTransfer doesn’t just share files. It moves ideas. Big ideas.
Bombastic ideas. Game-changing ideas. It lights the fuse and blasts your brain into the stratosphere.For a digital tool used by millions, we needed a campaign platform that can speak to everyone, from creatives to teachers to dentists, and inspire them to get their files moving. We wrote the line Think it. Make it. Move it. A simple, modular, statement that can be playfully re-phrased to suit all manner of professions.&#38;nbsp;(13)Next, we asked creatives “What big idea are you trying to bring to life?” It turned out that Jungle had an ambitious idea for their new studio album... to release it as a feature film comprised of 14 music videos. We partnered with them on this mission, co-funding the project, documenting their creative process and turning the journey into posters, films, and various pieces of album-teaser content, all dropped via jungle.wetransfer.com. (9) Drops featured things like 3D-printable merch, a behind-the-scenes zine, and .wav stems for a remix competition.
The centre-piece of our campaign was an interactive music video for the album’s lead release Back on 74, in which a selection of unique album art could be dragged and downloaded directly from the video – with some artworks containing free tickets to Jungle’s 2023 World Tour.&#38;nbsp;(2–7) In essence... a product demo of epic proportions.Hands down, the coolest project I’ve ever had the good fortune to be part of!

	A splash of optimism to launch KLABU inside the Netherlands’ largest  centre for refugees and asylum-seekers.

In 2022, a fresh wave of immigration into the EU created a backlog of asylum claims across the continent. In the Netherlands’ largest refugee reception centre (Ter Apel), new arrivals were spending months inside a facility intended  only for a short stay.
KLABU responded to the situation by initiating a weekly sports programme for the most at-risk youth, and its immediate success led to the launch of an official sports clubhouse.&#38;nbsp;(10)
 But as an organisation that seeks to add colour back to peoples lives, the sports infrastructure in Ter Apel – grey slabs inside a big cage – felt a bit... bleak. I pitched that together with the young residents, we give the court a lick of paint, recreating KLABU’s iconic butterfly pattern (featured across all their sportswear).
We hooked up a speaker, donned some overalls, strapped Go-Pro’s to the paint rollers and got to work. More info on the project here, and some behind-the-scenes here.

KLABU is a sports foundation with a mission to support refugees through sport. In partnership with&#38;nbsp;UNHCR, they create sports clubhouses around the world and fund their projects through sportswear.With international travel limited during the Covid-19 pandemic, KLABU began looking at what impact could be made closer to home. And so the Amsterdam weekly workout was born: a fun way to connect new arrivals (refugees, asylum seekers and undocumented migrants) with locals.Every KLABU shirt features a badge co-created with the people it supports. The Amsterdam badge shows two birds: a heron representing the host community, and a pigeon representing the newcomer, gathered around a classic Dutch water fountain – described by workout regular Mamadou as, “the place where new life begins”.We brought the film to life with various members of our weekly workout crew on an authenticly rainy day in the city. 	A groundbreaking new form of medication that provides fast-acting relief from modern day existence.

READ MOREThough it may appear a legit pharmaceutical drug, Samphetamine® is in fact a collection of writings by a young author called Sam Bird (who also happens to be my younger brother.)
Each of the works – a mix of poetry and performance pieces – is rooted in his experience of chronic depression, diagnosed at age 17.
Being ‘medicated’ – and all the consquences that arise from it – is a constant theme across Sam’s work. It sparked an idea that I couldn’t resist… to present this collection of writing as an antidote: a fully branded medication, containing a 188-page fold-out booklet, complete with industry-standard packaging and a corporate website featuring FAQ’s and the opportunity to order a sample.

Stripe payment systems temporarily blocked access to the site as it flagged up as a ‘violation of their policy regarding the sale of controlled substances’.&#38;nbsp; Access was only re-instated after I appealed the decision, explaining that I am not a black-market narcotics dealer, but a publisher **

READ MOREThe Alkazar building in Istanbul – once an iconic venue for theatre and film – had fallen into decay. Working alongside a local cultural committee, Nike hoped to restore the building to its former glory, but rebuilt for a modern generation; a multi-purpose space featuring rooftop courts, a fitness studio, makers space, community cafe, podcasting suite and speakers hall.
My role in the project began by creating a narrative to guide people throughout the building: telling the story of the space from its history, to its sustainable redesign, to the partners who embody it’s values.
This role expanded into developing the creative for the launch campaign: borrowing from Alkazar’s heritage as a film theater, we  underpinned everything around the notion of a ‘stage’.
The core values of the Hope Alkazar initiative led us to writing five short films: New Ground (innovation), Greater Good (community), Beyond Borders (accessability), Open Arms&#38;nbsp;(empathy) and Move To Zero&#38;nbsp;(sustainability). Each script centered around a different Turkish athlete or cultural hero, from volleyball icon Ebrar Karakut, to NBA star Cedi Osman, to world-reknowned digital artist Refik Anadol.

(4)&#38;nbsp; Directors cut combining clips from all x5 short films into a single edit.&#38;nbsp; The voiceover (by the featured choreographer, Ekin Bernay) reads the manifesto for HOPE Alkazar; written my myself and exhibited inside the building’s entrance hall (in both Turkish and English).&#38;nbsp;
(15)&#38;nbsp; The basketball hoop featured in MOVE TO ZERO – masterfully upcycled from construction scrap by Onaranlar Kulübü – is now permanently installed at a public court in Beyoğlu.
